Workout of the Week: Double Dead-Legged
Challenging workout focused on leg endurance and mental resilience.
Self-Induced Dead Legs
Have you ever been dead-legged?
It’s unpleasant.
My goal in creating this workout was to induce that feeling in my both of my legs… everywhere.
I’ve been out of commission for a few weeks due to the worst case of the flu I’ve experienced. Having done a few workouts testing where my legs were at, I knew I was ready to go hard.
After significant shoulder surgery last year, all I could do was leg or core exercise for several months. Following this “setback,” my legs were in the best shape of my life. Workouts that used to leave me aching for several days felt easier and no longer induced any soreness.
The power of neuroplasticity.
As always, there will be modifications for all movements and exertion levels, making this workout accessible to all.
Double Dead-Legged can be used as a form of active recovery with the proper modifications, or it can be used to put your leg endurance and mental resilience to the test.
I can assure you mental resistance will creep in during this burner.
How will you respond?
A challenging workout each week can be your way of stress testing your resilience.
This week will offer one of my biggest challenges yet when following the perceived exertion guidelines.
The legs contain some of the largest and most efficient muscles in our body.
Can you keep going when they’re extremely tired?
Sensory signals such as pain, fatigue, and discomfort present choices.
How do you respond to these signals when you know you’re otherwise safe?
The mind controls the body.
Teach your subconscious this lesson with extreme physical challenges that you can push through.
Confidence in yourself is developed from testing your limits.
Resilience is a skill that is optimized through training.
Become confidence in your physical, mental, and spiritual resilience with the use of a workout like Double Dead-Legged.
